A former island off the coast of Tuscany, now connected to the mainland via three narrow sandbars, Monte Argentario is quite a special rugged spot for those looking to mingle sea and mountain fun, all in one place. A place where you can only imagine the Italian elite seeking out a hidden getaway the hidden groves of Argentario’s coastline. In fact this promontory has attracted people as far back as the 3rd century BC, with the arrival of the Etruscans and later the Roman Emperor Traiano, followed by the King of Naples and the Spaniards, who ruled for 150 years before it became under the control of the Duchy of Tuscany. It is said that Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio died in Porto Ercole in the early 1600’s.
It is located about 150 kilometers from Pisa and Rome respectively, in the Maremma region of Southern Tuscany. Nearby are the islands of Giannutri and Giglio. There are plenty of reasons to fall in love with the area, even for its very un-Tuscan feel. There is so much to see and do here, nature-lovers would delight in the plethora of fauna in preserved lagoons, while those seeking a golf course by the sea would be surprised to note that one already exists here. Yes my friends, this is the sort of place that surprises. There are two main towns on the peninsula itself, Porto Ercole, a sleepy, yet elegant fishing village that comes alive in the summer months to the buzz of the busier Porto Santo Stefano.
Arriving at the luxurious 5 star Argentario Golf you can capture a sense of what we’ll be exploring over the week.
A pristine panoramic 18-hole golf course in a protected natural reserve on one side and the gentle slopes, the sea and the lagoon on the other, are all part of what to expect in this wellness retreat.
The greens are exceptionally beautiful offering the perfect scenery to remind you to turn on your ‘out of office’
You might want to take the afternoon off to rest or enjoy the Spa, the choice is yours.
Later in the day, get ready for a delicious meal at the Argentario’s Club House, drop in and ease yourselves into the retreat experience.
Time to break a sweat at a morning HIIT class then detox your minds with yoga and meditation. We’ll follow our sweat sessions with a nourishing breakfast. We leave some free time to relax and enjoy the pool, to explore the region with a walk around the complex or mountain biking.
We start the the day with a run/walk around the golf course, then get ready to workout either by the pool or by the Techno Gym Equipped gym, much like an Equinox weight room area with everything we need for a great workout. We complete our morning activities with a transformational yoga session outdoor before replenish our energies with a continental breakfast.
After a morning workout and a rejuvenating yoga session we take the Helios Family for a beautiful afternoon of wine tasting and a delicious picnic overlooking Val Delle Rose’s vineyards.
This is as authentic as it gets when it comes to Tuscany.
The transformation continues as we shed the layers of our stressful lives and step in the strongest versions of ourselves with yoga and HIIT.
After morning yoga and an energising breakfast, we’ll set out for a day in the sun by the pool and a rejuvenating spa experience at the award winning wellness centre.
A heart-thumping HIIT class will prime us to surrender into a restorative sunset yoga flow. We’ll close our last evening together with a deliciously nourishing meal at a secret picturesque spot in Tuscany. A place where you only see in Pictures.
We celebrate life in proper Tuscan style amongst vineyards and cypress trees at our the last evening in this wonderful adventure in Italy.
The key to this retreat is rejuvenation, so we’ll begin today with our awesome trainers working us out to our best fitness workouts and more yoga to balance our zen. We tie the experience together with a final brunch before checking out.
We promise you’ll leave feeling rejuvenated and whole so you can return home with a nourished mind, body and spirit.
